Elk antlers for the auction, Jackson, Wyoming

Elk antlers for the auction, Jackson, Wyoming U.S. Highway 89
The National Elk Refuge was created in 1912 to feed thousands of starving elk fenced from natural winter forage. Before leaving the refuge in spring, male elk shed their antlers. For decades, the Jackson Boy Scouts have raised funds by collecting and auctioning them. In demand for asian medicines, chandeliers and artwork, antler prices are rising; the Refuge now partners in the auction and receives 80% of the proceeds.
