Sunrise above the oxbow, a quiet arm of the Snake River, home to osprey, moose, bald eagles and beaver. In this haven, I have seen young otters eating fish held like an ice cream cone and surfing in riffles. On a dawn morning like this one, elk are certain to be bugling and one might be lucky enough to hear distant coyotes howling a pack wake-up song.
