All the (water)colors of Zion National Park

Zion tree and redrock watercolor effect photography

In the canyon of Zion's Weeping Rock

I captured the underlying picture in this image in May 2005. It took me eighteen months to decide how to interpret it. My Mom pointed out the scene and asked me to shoot it. I probably would still be mulling this shot over if I weren't driving south this coming week and stopping at her house on my way to Tucson. If I'm lucky, she'll want to come along.

I developed this post-processing style a while ago, most recently using it on a shot from Ireland and some quilts from Spring City that I'll be showing you soon. In this workflow, I use Adobe Camera Raw, Photoshop, the Velvia action set from Action Central, and a PS filter combination of watercolor and palette knife effects. I think my mom will like it.
