Slate and Mango
I've had some requests for updated photos of Mango and Slate. These kittens, now almost four months old, can look so sweet, cuddly and innocent. It's a lie. Just this week, they discovered that the bathtub is a fun place to play, because they can romp and slide down the curved sides. It's an old porcelain tub, and the banging of paws and heads gets pretty loud. And the rubber ducky barely survived:
Slate found the ducky first.
Mango, as per standard operating procedure, stole the ducky away from Slate.
Devolving, as usual, from game to sibling rivalry.
Mango and Slate tussle for exercise and entertainment most of their waking hours. The only time it got ugly was when Mango tried to investigate a carrot peel I had given Slate. They eat kibbles out of the same bowl, but he growled at her over a vegetable scrap. It made no sense, except that R says their brains are the size of ping pong balls. They got over it soon enough and went back to their regularly scheduled jousting tournament. Neither can keep score, but the morning I made these photos, rubber ducky lost every round.

And the new game is the Dreideldrome: Two Yiddish Dreidels spinning in a porcelain tub with two cats = hours of fun (or war, depending on how you look at it).

Don't discount the hours of free entertainment for mom and dad, too! (speaking from experience, of course...)

I so love those two characters... Mango has the most intelligent ( though i think the correct term is "calculating") eyes for a young kitten. Mr. Slate, what a guy...he's gonna take the fall for whatever his sister convinces him to do.

Kitten porn. What ferocious little monsters.
Reminds me of this shocking photo where three dogs ATTACK an alligator:
