One ugly curve in Photoshop generated this effect. I see a lot my pictures this way, at least temporarily, because I use a curve adjustment layer in Photoshop to help me find any little dust spots. A quick dab on the base layer with the spot healing brush (or whatever tool works), then I throw the curve away.
Or I might not. Wildly colorful remapped images became cliched almost as soon as Photoshop was introduced, but occasionally one works into something I really like.
Either way, the dust spots are gone. My next camera will probably have a function to clean its own sensor. Will I still play with these styles of images once that happens? Or will the Photoshop action languish unused, lonely and forgotten? It likely will be a more deliberate act of creativity, rather than the found images of today. What have you lost or found in your photography toolkit lately?
