Bee's eye view of Picacho State Park, Arizona (Nikon 16-35 VR at 26mm, ISO 1600, f22 1/320th sec)
We found only a few poppies at Lost Dutchman State Park, but lots at Picacho Peak. Not much in the way of interesting light, so I tried a bunch of different stuff to learn the capabilities of this new lens. The wind was gusting and kicking up dust off the desert to the west, so even a blue sky was something to be grateful for.

I left my right-angle viewfinder behind that day, so I was handholding and shooting blind, which was kind of fun. The probabilities were already low with the wind of getting something hyperfocal sharp anyway. I made more images that I liked that way than I would have if I put the camera away because conditions weren't perfect.
Conditions are rarely perfect.

The State of AZ is going to be shutting down Picacho, along with a boatload of other state parks this year due to budget cutbacks. You're lucky you got there when you did, and you've inspired me to make a road trip down there before the place is shuttered.
