2012 Apple Days in Torrey, UT

Cheerleaders in the Torrey Apple Days parade

Once again, Torrey town put on a fine weekend of Apple Days activities, with loads of fun things to do. You could start the morning off with a 5K run and dance until 1 am, with non-stop food and entertainment all day. The highlight every year is the parade down Main Street. It’s one of those parades where the sheriff diverts traffic off the main highway, and the whole parade turns around and comes back by so everyone can wave twice.

I have no idea why there are so many Dachshunds in Wayne County. I speculate on an obscure variant of a founder effect, then move on because it’s too painful a thought for such cute dogs. There’s enough of them to fill out their own float.

What's Torrey Apple Days without pie. I heard they were making 4,000 the night before the parade. Thanks Cafe Diablo folks!

Pie! How does Cafe Diablo feed a full crowd on Friday night, then make all those pies for the parade?

It’s always the first Saturday in July, so you can put Torrey Apple Days on your calendar right now for 2013. Maybe we’ll even have apples in the orchard next year!
