The hardest thing about shooting the Oasis 21 in Nagoya is blocking out the horrific red and white illuminated sign advert for an American soda pop.

Bridespotting, Nagoya-style
While we were in Japan for R’s lecture, our hosts arranged a cultural excursion for us to see the Tokugawa Art Museum and at Tokugawaen Garden in Nagoya with an English-speaking guide. In the garden, with non-verbal permission from the hired gun, I made the first of four bridespotting scores for the trip. Who knew tatami mats came in that pink color?

Bison mother and calf, Yellowstone National Park
Look at the size of that calf! Mothers Day is coming up and there’s still time to send your mom a copy of U.S. Highway 89: the Scenic Route to Seven Western National Parks via priority mail, discounted to $24.95 for blog readers and Facebook fans.
Priority mail takes 2-3 days from Salt Lake City to almost anywhere in the U.S. Give Mom an armchair tour of the greatest places in the western U.S., or invite her to pick a destination from the book for a future family trip. Personalized dedications are my pleasure, just let me know what you would like inscribed with my signature.
Happy Mothers Day!
